COVID-19 vaccine events at Long’s, Walmart in Lihu‘e this Saturday

LIHU‘E — As the county and the state push for people to get vaccinated, both CVS Long’s Drugs at the Kukui Grove Center and the Walmart in Lihu‘e will host special vaccination events this Saturday.

These vaccination events are in addition to the clinics scheduled on the listing.

Walmart Lihu‘e joins the national Walmart network of more than 4,700 pharmacies across the country to provide accessible and affordable immunizations and vaccines for its customers when they turn the quarterly Wellness Day into a special immunization event.

“Our goal is to get people vaccinated, for both COVID-19 and the flu,” said Diane Keeler, the Walmart Lihu‘e store manager. “We want to make it easy and convenient for customers.”

That same day, on Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., customers can walk into the pharmacy to receive a variety of immunizations ranging from the COVID-19 to the flu as well as the others at low cost, including measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), varicella (chickenpox), HPV, tetanus, whooping cough (TDAP), and more.

Insurance is not required to receive a COVID-19 that is available at no cost, and other vaccines are covered under most of the major insurance plans.

There will be various wellness resources available as well as an opportunity to speak with the pharmacists.

The CVS Long’s Drugs store at the Kukui Grove Center will be hosting a drive-thru flu shot clinic, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Our goal is to get people to pre-register for this clinic in order to get more people serviced,” said a spokesperson for Long’s Drugs.

Appointments can be made by going to shots.

The flu shot is available for people from 3 years old and up, and accepted medical plans include HMSA, Medicare Prime, UHA, and HMAA. People seeking flu shots need to bring their insurance card to the drive-thru where face masks must be worn.

People taking advantage of the drive-thru clinic will receive a shopping pass and a Long’s Drugs swag bag. Motorists are asked to use the Kalepa Street entrance to the shopping center to access the South parking lot.
