Showers are expected throughout the rest of the week in Hilo after heavy rains caused a flood advisory Wednesday.
The National Weather Service predicts isolated showers today, but beginning tonight rain is likely until at least the end of Saturday.
A flood advisory issued Wednesday afternoon for most of the Big Island stated that rain fell at a rate of 1-2 inches per hour. That advisory was scheduled to expire Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Lowell has entered the Central Pacific. Forecasts from the National Hurricane Center anticipate that the storm will be about 600 miles east of Hilo by Monday morning, and will likely be downgraded to a tropical depression by then.
