Firefighters rescue injured hiker from Waipo‘o Falls

KOKE‘E — Firefighters rescued a 67-year-old California woman from Waipo‘o Falls in Koke‘e on Saturday. First responders were notified about 3:50 p.m. of a hiker who sustained an arm injury and was feeling faint along the trail and needed help. Rescue 3 personnel aboard Air 1 were dispatched, as Waimea firefighters and other units were responding to a structure fire in Hanapepe around the same time. Firefighters short-hauled the woman to a nearby landing zone where AMR medics provided further treatment. The scene was cleared about 5 p.m.
