First responders locate missing diver off Po‘ipu on Tuesday

PO‘IPU — First responders located a missing diver in waters off Po‘ipu near Koloa Landing Tuesday morning.

First responders were dispatched to a report of a missing diver around 10:25 a.m.

Personnel from the Kaua‘i Fire Department Koloa station, KFD Ocean Safety Bureau roving ski and American Medical Response responded to the incident.

According to a preliminary report, first responders were briefed from a dive group that a scuba diver was missing from their group for about 20 minutes before they arrived.

Soon after, OSB personnel located the missing diver on the surface of the water. According to reports, the diver lost contact with the dive group after encountering poor water visibility.

AMR personnel checked on the patient, who declined medical attention. No injuries were reported.
