Four Warrior cheer members on KIF All-Stars

LIHU‘E — Kapa‘a High School cheer squad, the defending Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions, placed four of its performers on the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation Cheer All-Stars listing that was released last week.

Under the coaching of Rosey Jerves, who guided the Warrior Cheer squad to the 2022 Central Pacific Bank KIF title, the Kapa‘a pepster squad that included two male performers soared to the 2023 CPB KIF title by claiming 42.633 points out of a possible 50 points. The squad earned 14 points in the overall performance, which included building skills, tumbling and jumps, and overall.

Kaua‘i and Waimea squads finished that portion tied at 12.0 points each. Kaua‘i ended in second place after Waimea suffered a 1.75 point deduction, according to information posted on the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association website —

The CPB KIF title earned Kapa‘a eligibility to compete at the 2023 Zippy’s HHSAA Cheerleading Championships that were held in November 2023 on O‘ahu where Kapa‘a participated in the coed division. The Warriors cheer squad finished that competition in fifth place after earning 36.967 points out of a possible 50 points.

Radford High School earned the top spot in Coed by claiming 46.383 points out of a possible 50 points. Pac Five, Hilo and Maui filled in the second through fourth places, respectively, all earned more than 40 points in the competition.
