Free ocean safety clinic set

PO‘IPU — The South Shore Ocean Safety Awareness Clinic presented by the Kaua‘i Fire Department Ocean Safety Bureau and Kaua‘i Lifeguard Association is Saturday, Feb. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort in Po‘ipu.

The free function is aimed to educate and train the community on how to react in the event of an ocean-related emergency.

Topics will include areas of risk management, lifeguard operations, rescue skills and demonstrations, and more.

The clinic is open to the public, but those who work in the ocean-recreation and visitor industries are especially encouraged to register and attend. Space is limited, so interested participants are encouraged to register early.

To register, visit the KFD OSB office at the Lihu‘e Civic Center Pi‘ikoi Building, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 315. Individuals may also request emailed registration forms by calling 241-4984.
