Free summer movies return to NTBG this Saturday

A special screening of “Mary Poppins Returns” is scheduled Saturday at National Tropical Botanical Garden.

The free screening will take place on the meadow at the South Shore Visitors Center, 4425 Lawai Road in Poipu, across from Spouting Horn Park. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the movie will start shortly after sunset. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or low beach chairs for seating.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Girl Scouts of Hawaii will also be on site, offering keiki activities.

“We are excited to launch this year’s Summer Movie series at the South Shore Visitor Center meadow,” said Tobias Koehler, garden director.

“The movies are a great way for us to connect with the community and our visitors, and to partner with local businesses while showcasing our gardens and sharing our mission of perpetuating the survival of the plants, ecosystems and cultures of this tropical region.”

Donations will help fund research, conservation and public education programs at NTBG.

The Summer Movie series will include “Aquaman” on Aug. 24.
