PO‘IPU — Da Pali rock climbing wall was parked near the shuttle bus stop, Friday during its appearance at The Shops at Kukui‘ula.
That proved to be a good vantage point where passengers aboard the shuttle could view the excitement of young people working their way up the portable wall secured by safety harness. A passenger commented on the perfect conditions — barefeet and good weather — for youngsters to have fun.
“The shuttle works,” said Stacie Chiba-Miguel, the regional manager for A&B Properties. “Notice the surge of people when the shuttle stops by? The shuttle makes a loop, starting at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa, the Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort, and Old Koloa Town, and The Shops.”
Da Pali rock climbing wall experience, a fundraiser for the Kaua‘i Charity Walk that benefit more than 60 of Kaua‘i’s nonprofit organization, was joined by The Shops’ Friday Night Flavors in welcoming the Father’s Day Weekend.
Friday Night Flavors features the music of the John Rivera Trio, one of the groups providing music at The Shops’ Wednesday Farmers Market at The Shops, and a wine and beer garden from The Dophin Po‘ipu. This month’s featured restaurants included Bubba Burgers, The Dolphin Po“ipu, Eating House 1849, Lappert’s Hawai‘i, Merriman’s Kaua‘i, Savage Shrimp, and Uncle’s Shave Ice where diners could order to-go meals that could be enjoyed in the Palm Court socially-distanced setting.
“Da Pali is here all weekend,” Chiba-Miguel said. “Mason Chock packs it up after 6 p.m. and takes it to the Kukui Grove Center where it will be there from 10 a.m. to noon. Then, he packs it up so he can be back here by 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. He’s here Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m., too.”
Other Father’s Day activities include the Ha‘upu Outpost grand opening where guests and shoppers were welcomed by trays of sushi and pupu from The Dolphin Po‘ipu, and an adventure giveaway.
