Hannah hopes to make a cozy place for Hope

Hannah is a single mom to Hope, and is a survivor of cancer. With all her medical issues she is unable to work. Hannah is driven to continue to persevere and move forward no matter how hard or what obstacles life throws at her. She has been floating from home to home until her disability payments are approved.

Hannah was able to secure housing for her and Hope, and even though things has always been in transition for Hope, she has always remained positive and supportive of her mom. Hannah would like to make her new place a cozy place for Hope to call home. Hannah is requesting pots, pans, toiletries towels, linens and curtains.

Through Christmas Eve, The Garden Island will share daily, front-page stories about families (we don’t use their real names) facing challenges and who would appreciate a little help.

The Christmas Fund is an avenue for everyone to provide that assistance. Donations are used by Zonta Club members to purchase gift certificates that are in turn distributed to families and individuals through social-service agencies.

Each donation is accounted for and recorded. There are no administrative costs involved, and money goes directly to provide for those in need of Christmas presents and groceries.

If you hold a fundraiser for the Christmas Fund, let us know and we’ll spread the word.

Anyone making a donation of $150 or more can have their picture published in TGI.

Donations may be made by way of the website, Zonta-Kauai.org, or checks can be made payable to The Zonta Club of Kaua‘i Foundation, P.O. Box 3032, Lihu‘e, HI 96766.

w Evan and Everly are a young family with their 1-year-old daughter, Ella, and have been homeless and searching for a place where they can call home. Evan works odd jobs to support his family, while Everly is going back to school. They were recently offered and accepted a home, but with only Evan working most of their funds will be going to rent, food and baby items. Evan and Everly could use pots, pans, utensils, toiletries, linens and curtains to help furnish their new home and start a new chapter in their life.

w Sarah is a single mother of three children: Zirah, Zack and Zadie. Sarah works as a private houskeeper but due to COVID-19 her hours have dropped to less than half. She struggles to make ends meet and does not have enough to give the kids anything for Christmas, as most of her money goes to rent and food. She would like to be able to get her kids some new clothes and shoes, and some toys for the younger one.
