Happy Camper for Friday, April 2, 2021

Good luck to Clay Carvalho (Sabrina Bodon has this Kilauea Bakery thing down pat — even scored some avocado), who will be moving on from The Garden Island after visiting his family on the mainland.

Kudos to Chantal Zarbaugh, Monica Belz and all those Kaua‘i Government Employees Federal Credit Union ‘ohana members who did not let a little rain dampen the first, in-person, Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours gathering, where guests could see the special raincoat created by Kaua‘i Museum Executive Director Chucky Boy Chock. This is the second raincoat the KGEFCU Kilauea Branch has on display, and joins the pohaku artifacts loaned to them by the museum when the branch opened.

Melissa McFerrin-Warrack of Kukui Grove Center said EB (that’s short for “Easter Bunny”) and his buddies (will the Garden Gnome be there too?) will be at the shopping center starting today (it’s the Good Friday holiday!) for photos at Bunny Hollow. You need to book an appointment at kukuigrovecenter.com, but it’s free — just bring your own camera. And on a late break, yes, Deja Vu Surf Hawai‘i is planning to have its Bunny Hole operating again (is Akemi Dizol working, or does Kayla Koerte need to do a hana hou?)

There’s also a few openings left for the National Tropical Botanical Garden egg hunt that takes place Sunday from 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon at the South Shore Visitor Center on Lawa‘i Road in Kukui‘ula. Yes, face masks need to be worn. And, yes, social distancing, too — no large gatherings.

Hoppy Easter!
