Yes, Safeway Pharmacy at both the Kaua‘i Village Shopping Center in Waipouli and the Hokulei Village Shopping Center in Puhi now offer COVID-19 vaccine.
Stephanie Samante has been doing a great job of recruiting potential vaccine candidates (she did a whopping dozen vaccines Tuesday), and even helped pass the time for a shopper at the Starbucks shop. This is another option now that everyone over the age of 16 who wants a shot is eligible.
Melanie Okamoto was one of the vaccine checkpoint workers at the Lihu‘e Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall, and Tina Albao of the Boys &Girls Club of Hawai‘i got to leave early because the food distribution was rescheduled for next week.
Kudos to U.S. Rep. Kai Kahele, who has been making the rounds on Kaua‘i. How did they end up with a crowd for the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce virtual meeting?
And kudos to Pat Gegan and his Island School class for having such a broad range of topics for discussion with the congressman (kudos to Olivia Lutkevich on getting special presentation from Kahele on her acceptance to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland).
Jaden DeSouza signed a letter of intent to become a Gael at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California on the same day Olivia got her congressional certificate, and others were not forgotten, as Keith Burgess asked about setting up a youth running league for those high-school students who were deprived of their running (track and field included) season because of the pandemic. Go, daughter Emma Burgess (she’s a Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champion, too).
Now, it’s off to see coach Darryl Date and the youth boys volleyball league that kicks off at the Kaua‘i Christian Fellowship Southside Sports Center. Mahalo for the invite, Larry Rivera, but duty calls!
