So, who won the bottle of bubbly?

Carol Simon of Coldwell Banker at The Shops at Kukui‘ula (they have another office at the Po‘ipu Shopping Village) did a bang-up job finding New Year’s decorations, and topped the greeting by hosting a giveaway for the “bottle of bubbly” during the Wednesday outing of the farmers’ market at The Shops at Kukui‘ula. Who was on New Year’s break?

Mark Jones’ tomatoes (his grandpa collected the seeds from the Philippines) are going off right now, and Isobel Storch of Lanipo Farms (she’s at Puhi Park Produce Saturday, too) had the debut appearance of her chocolate persimmon cake. And, yes, it is a chocolate persimmon that she said they need to harvest ahead of maturity because the chickens and goats love ‘em.

Mahalo, Bart Thomas, for that sugarloaf pineapple that Sabrina Bodon said is the “cutest thing ever,” and Happy New Year to Johnny Gordines, whose Tropical Flower Express floral bundles got wiped out quickly (must’ve been that yellow achote (he said the seeds are red, though), and who could resist the E.H. elotes corn being cranked out by Roy Yamguchi’s Eating House 1849 (that’s what “E.H.” stands for) by chef Apoli Sagucio (is he related to Tiffany Sagucio of Tiffany Sagucio News?).

Beth Haddock of Pietro’s (at the Po‘ipu Shopping Village…they also have one at the Harbor Mall shopping center) said even if they could use more pizza-eaters, they can’t close (she even accommodated a customer’s request for extra plates and napkins for the beach) because a lot of other restaurants are shutting down because of the lack of visitors. Go Papalani Gelato and The Kaua‘i Juice Company. They’re open along with Keoki’s Paradise (is that fancy Christmas tree still there?), too!

Happy New Year!
