Happy Camper for Friday, July 1, 2022

Arleen Yoshimori was thrilled to be working at the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce luncheon with Southwest Airlines CEO Bob Jordan (how did Janice Bond know she needed a maile lei for him?) because not only she was happy to be hired by the Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort, her son’s boss is Southwest Airlines’ Brad Hawkins. Fellow server Gloria West said she became a grandma during the COVID-19…thank you, Paul Toner and the Royal Sonesta HR department for keeping these ladies happy to be working!

Kudos to Wilcox Health for their two interns, Anika Evanoff (she’s still a student at Island School), and Toni Jordan Umalla (she’s also not graduated from Kapa‘a High School, yet) who got hands-on experience watching the pros like Faith Campbell and Andy Bestwick do their jobs.

Okay, time to get over the mountain and check out E Ola Mau Na Leo O Kekaha and the Kekaha Family Fun Day centered around the Kekaha Neighborhood Center. But you have to get there before they shut down Elepaio Road with the pilot Play Streets Kaua‘i project from 10 a.m. to noon.

Happy Fourth of July! This is going to be a quiet one, and perfect for being mindful, staying safe, and getting ready for next week’s round of activities that include a coding workshop (you need to pre-register, please) at the Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery, and the opening of the Garden Isle Quilters at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery.
