Wow! School is starting in less than a month, and the Back to School Bash is a week away (Ron Wiley and Lexi Jones are hosting that free school supplies giveaway!)…have you pre-registered, yet?
Normally, we get to meet the KQNG prize goddess during the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair, but there is no fair, this year. Instead, it was a pleasure to meet Nicole Lee during a stop to visit with Lexi (she is the voice behind the Facebook Live Aloha for Kaua‘i, Fridays!).
Kudos to Gina Kaulukukui and the Hanalei Strings ‘ohana on meeting the goal (mahalo and aloha to ALL the contributors!) of getting Kala ukulele (Tim Mira played one during the Police, Pastors &Platters!) for all of Kaua‘i’s graduating seniors! Now, how are we going to get the students lined up to get their unique graduation gift? This definitely can’t be a virtual thing.
Mahalo to Cheryl Shintani for sending along the encore virtual bon dance…it’s going to be on July 12 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Hawai‘i Time, Cynthia Chiang, not past beddy bye time. Akiko Yamamoto (she also dances hula with Kumu Leina‘ala in Japan) said she hopes that one day after COVID-19, maybe we can all do the Lord Ouchi Bon Dance, together — in person.
