When was the last time I got to see Ada Koene?

She’s back, as the Koloa Plantation Days return to an in-person event (it’s 10 days long!) starting today with the rodeo. Ada was setting up the Plantation Days Historic Exhibit and Book Sale that opens Monday in a new location, toward the back end of the Po‘ipu Shopping Village.

Ada also got help from new faces like Franz Schumur, Christina Aiu, and Tiana Amo (yes, even Jack got to come and help) of the Kaua‘i Historical Society…and on the night of the exhibit opening, Tita Collins comes back to the Palm Court at The Shops at Kukui‘ula for local (pidgin English) storytelling…if my grammar school teacher was here, Tita’d definitely get a talking-to.

But that’s not all…the Hawai‘i Children’s Theatre opens its PM Program (do they get to use the Big Tent, too?) production, Once on an Island, Jr. this weekend only (Marly Madayag said teachers start school, Monday) at the convention hall.

And, if you haven’t signed up for the Charity Walk, the Countdown to Charity Walk is at the Kukui Grove Center, Saturday along with NOAA intern Abigail Seibel (she was checking out the turtles, too) and the petroglyph rubbings at the Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery…Book Reading with Kupuna Ihi Kaneali‘i, Sunday at 1 p.m., too.

Nah, maybe it’s time to check out In Bliss (Hanapepe is a long way from Princeville!) at the Friday Night Art Walk in Hanapepe…Greg Askew is there with his Hawaiian treats that used to be Ono Pops. And is Sumiko’s (very unique kettle corn, and more!) back in-person?
