The KC Waffle Dog must be a Honolulu bon dance thing because isn’t it supposed to be a Pronto Pup (West Kaua‘i Methodist Church makes the most ono ones next to their malasadas!)? Yes people, it starts at 5:30 p.m. (who said they’re going to have hula, too?)…oh, that’s because Kumu Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin of Halau Ka Lei Mokihana o Leina‘ala (remember how ono their Sunday soups were when they teamed up with Ann Hashisaka and Kaua‘i Kookie?) is doing one of the food offerings at the Bon Odori Festival that opens Friday and Saturday at Puhi Park.
Nikki Ige had her Grove Farm crew on break at the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce Mayor’s Luncheon (kudos, Mark Perriello and Chamber ‘ohana, and the Mayor’s support ‘ohana!) where Kaua‘i Fire Chief Michael Gibson got to meet Lt. Governor candidate Ikaika Anderson (great job, chauffeuring, Dickie Chang so Ikaika could make the plane for his evening commitment in Honolulu!).
Janice Bond was engrossed with the Rainbow Salad (great job, Chef Gregory Grohowski! And, also on having three of Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami’s favorite goodies on the dessert bar), and Michelle Emura was at the event with “important people” Sherry Menor-McNamara who is also running for Lt. Governor.”
Mufi Hannemann of the Hawai‘i Lodging &Tourism Association met up with the Kaua‘i Charity Walk (have you registered for the Aug. 20 big walk, yet?) powers, and even had time to greet Arryl Kaneshiro and Sen. President Ron Kouchi.
Okay, time to bon dance…no, Wally Rita and his kachi-kachi band is doing Koloa Plantation Days Flavors of Kukui‘ula…oh well, check out the Koloa Plantation Days parade, Saturday!
