Happy Camper for Friday, July 5, 2024

Nature artist Kimberly Kirk opened her three-artist Show and Sale on Independence Day at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery at Kukui Grove Center. Artists celebrate their opening reception on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for the show that feature a wide range of artwork in different media. There is also surfboard art, sculpture, clothing, and as described on the flier posted on the window of the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery, “unique gifts.”

Kimberly said the exhibit features Kaua‘i flora, fauna, ocean life and an entire series of art made from the actual plants, wild indigo and red dirt of Kaua‘i.

Kudos to Dirk Soma, Alicia Sams and Andy Ivankovich (he came in from Texas and the Singing Water Vineyards, needing to be home by July 3 when the vineyards are hosting groups of people to watch Fourth of July fireworks) on the ho‘ike for the third cohort of the STRIVE program … kudos to judges Andy, Capt. Brett Stevenson and Nate Prescott (he was featured during the Dev-Island graduation, too) of the county’s Office of Economic Development. Retired USAF general Mary Kay Hertog, commander of the Kaua‘i Veterans Council, was impressed with the number and variety of businesses that have emerged in the Kaua‘i economy over the past three cohorts, as well as the successes of veterans.
