This is Father’s Day weekend (no, the Wailua Bay Creators Fair is next Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn Wailua Bay Kaua‘i), and a great time to check out what’s been happening with garden equipment at the M. Kawamura Farm Enterprises booth at the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau agricultural festival this Friday and Saturday at Vidinha Stadium in Lihue.
Melissa McFerrin-Warrack said it’s a Father’s Day weekend at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e (keep an eye open for Back to School Bash registration…it’s going to come fast!), when Harvey Maeda, Richard Aki and the Kaua‘i Classic Cars gang hosts its annual Father’s Day Car Show with DJ Richard Rasay on Saturday. Is Michelle Rego going to bring out another green truck wonder that she had in the King’s Parade and Ho‘olaule‘a?
And it’s supposed to be a good weekend for fishing with dad, as Briget Arume and Families First host another free fishing day (I think it’s in Kukui‘ula…hope the regatta is not down there), and Rhan Honjo said the Nawiliwili Yacht Club brings back the popular Father’s Day Fishing Derby (it’s catch-and-release except if you snag a really good, pan-sized papio), Sunday at the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor. Whatever happened to the Cub Scouts? This was a perfect Pack activity because the fishers get lunch with registration, and depending on the generosity of community sponsors and the ingenuity of NYC judges, all young fishers get a prize.
