Happy Camper for Friday, March 26, 2021

Root-beer-float Peeps, and even a hot Peep! Mahalo, Janice Bond from the Pau Hana Market and Janice Akiyama from FM97!) for the stash of Easter goodies that is almost as big as Sabrina Bodon’s stash of Girl Scout cookies (Angela Hoover said this is the last weekend to get your fix — did Sadie Stiglmeier get permission for a final Walmart push?).

Kudos to Averie and Aubrie Ortal (Jenn Ortal’s light came on — coconut donuts with Elvrine Chow of Heavenly Haku back together, again, this time at the Pau Hana Market?) for taking time to make sure there’s Easter treasures available for Macee Martinez when Bunny Hollow comes alive this weekend at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e. And kudos to Jenn Schad of the KQNG Radio Group — when is Lexi Jones doing her thing? — for helping the two young ‘uns who just happen to be Scouts from Troop 334 sponsored by Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo.

Jenn Schad used to be the honey lady during the days of the Kaua‘i Culinary Market on Wednesdays (it’s now called the farmers’ market, at The Shops at Kukui‘ula), and now is behind the doors of KQNG. Stacie Chiba-Miguel had Miki Mac honey at the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank board meeting).

Congratulations to Simon Rusconi, Paul Toner and all the ‘ohana on unfurling the new Royal Sonesta Kaua‘i Resort flag at the resort on Kalapaki Beach formerly known as the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort &Beach Club, where Mark Benner’s little one was stoked by the escalators!

OK, this is the last of the Sanctuary Ocean Counts (COVID-19 guidelines say “Don’t bother the counters — they need to have social distance!”), and, wow, The Rookies (still undefeated!) and Kawaihau (they just got beat last week!) open the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League games Saturday, The Rookies at Kaumakani and Kawaihau at Puhi Park.
