Happy Camper for Friday, May 15, 2020

Sharon Sahara (she’s really good at knowing who’s who even with all the PPE) ran away from the office to get in some shopping, Wednesday at the Puhi Park Produce, and Ed Nakaya (how is retirement?) and Sharlyn Nakamine were first-time explorers to Puhi…who had the flat beans?

Mayette Loseto had the long, round ones (even in purple), and the fish guys were doing more thriving business as Sharyl Lam Yuen found some exotic cacao-looking thingies (must’ve come from Isobel Storch and Lanipo Farms), and the Thai version of coconuts? Wow! Need to have a Thai food festival.

John Rivera brought the pop up market to life after Pillare Mukai measured out how to be social distance compliant and still bring the musical trio back to the pop up market (nope, they had to lower the face masks, but no droplets…too far, and as long as people just went by to feed the goldfish bowl, appeared to be working)…Sandy Poenheldt became a shopper from last week and brought her van to sell (nope, everything is healthily put away and only taken out when ordered), and Sharlene Balmores sold out of her Ranchers Daughter Reserve steaks real fast…must be the Andrade heritage.

OK, gotta go find out about the Kaua‘i Pop Warner Football League’s meal distribution where the five associations plan on distributing some 1,500 meals from three sites — Hanapepe (with the efforts of the Kekaha and Hanapepe associations), Lihu‘e (with the combined Koloa and Lihu‘e groups), and Kapa‘a (go, Eagles!) — Sunday…stay tuned.
