Tara Arume-Nitta said for sure next year she’s going to have some of her Japanese items, including those koi nobori, at the Holly Jolly holiday fair where Santa in Paradise had a hard time breaking away from the endless stream of Keiki wanting to visit with the North Pole resident.
Santa finally made it to the Kauai Coffee Open House where more Keiki swarmed the Christmas icon. He had to make his great escape for Part 2 of the Holly Jolly event coordinated by Mayor Derek Kawakami, Robbie Melton of the Office of Economic Development and all the crew — especially the Kauai Made program.
Stephen and Sylvia Fujii came to check out the festivities (he missed those Kapaa Middle School Choir and Ukulele Band kids who had to get to the Veterans Christmas Party) after the Kauai Community Market (Elvrine Chow was hoping Jen Ortal would save her at least one of those coconut malasadas).
Eddie and Sonia Topenio, like The Camper, went to the Holly Jolly first. It took a long time to get through because there were more than 40 vendors, and a long list of entertainers. Frank Cruz and Cruz Control (had the right idea perform early so can enjoy the grinds) were introduced by Maka Herrod (and he thought he had a rough night), and who lost their family?
