Happy Camper for Monday, December 9, 2019

Amazing Grace (yes, that’s his real name), 5, would have had a field day Saturday at the Kauai Community Market at Kauai Communiy College in Puhi, where Greg Anderson, Jonah Nishi and the Kauai High School business management class debuted the Sustainable Boost pancake mix featuring mai‘a, kalo and ulu flours.

How would Amazing (he’s one of Joe Grace’s mo‘opuna who goes to “Grace” school) approach the customers with this mix developed by the students and is one of the breakfast menu items at the Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club (chef Guy Higa and Chuck Brady were on hand to help prepare samples for the well-received breakfast item!)? Kudos to Lourdes Torres for finally getting everything ready for customers to be able to prepare this at home, and even Lyle Tabata stopped by to chat with chef Guy and Destry Shibuya on the new package, where a portion of the sales go back to the high school business program.

OK, we go back to a full schedule of Kauai Interscholastic Federation sporting events (kudos to the officials of the KIF paddling on hosting a special paddle-out remembering the victims of the recent Anahola accident!), and now, it’s back to KIF soccer at Vidinha Stadium!
