Sonia and Eddie Topenio (they were doing their weekly farmers market shopping at Grove Farm Market on Saturday) said there were about 80 people, including Mark Perriello and a lot of professional people like Kaua‘i Community College Interim Chancellor Margaret Sanchez, who came to check out the county’s latest housing presentation on Thursday night at Kaua‘i Philippines Cultural Center.

Marlene Duarte was thrilled that Lickety Louie’s could join the more than 40 vendors who take advantage of the craft fair component that takes place on the first Saturday of even-numbered months. The next craft fair component takes place in April.

Mary Lardizabal was playing tour guide for her Canadian guests who do fiddle camps and Melodie Pigao of Kilohana Clothing is ready for February being Aloha Shirt Month. Greg Askew was handing out fliers for the ‘Ukulele Festival produced by Amy Hammond that will take place in April (never too early to set the calendar).

Shades of Valentine’s Day … Kukui Grove Center launched its Valentine Shop and Dine campaign on Feb. 1. It runs through Feb. 14. Shoppers can collect their receipts from any store and combine them for dining certificates at the rate of a $10 gift card to any eatery at the shopping center for every $100 of receipts. Sunday lunchtime diners were treated to Hank Curtis on his keyboard. Brenda Biehler Turville of Showtime Characters said Tuesday is the first Toddler Tuesday for February starting at 11 a.m.
