Happy Camper for Monday, November 25, 2019

What’s a little wind and rain? At least there was no thunder (that would’ve been disastrous for the First Hawaiian Bank Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II football semifinals) in the National Weather Service forecast for Saturday.

That did not stop the Kekaha Sunshine Market vendors from showing up at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center Saturday (how many Kauai Community Market vendors were rained out?), and Mary Williamson should’ve brought HIJoe for all (!!!) those visitors who came dressed in foul-weather gear (the comfort stations had lines outside them, too) — William McGinness had the right idea with his fireman’s gear topped with Ninja Turtle headwear.

And yes, Elvrine Chow of Heavenly Haku (she’s back from the mainland “retreat”), Cynthia Chiang was out at the Westside ‘Ohana Day (kudos to all those Wilcox Health organizers on a super event!) with her state Department of Health hat on, joining Tiana Kamen of Keiki to Farm, who had a weather-safe ulu (breadfruit) education exercise that worked well with the Hawaii Health Systems Corportation Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital ulu stew (they did the free bike helmet giveaway at the recent Fall Harvest Festival!), and Gather Federal Credit Union had constant lines at the popcorn station.

Taryn Dizon had a great story about the Kaleimanu soccer team (No. 2 in the Kauai Soccer Association fall season is not bad at all!), and Dr. Kapono Chong had the Waimea High School boys soccer team having fun while helping with the many safety stations.

OK, so where are the turkeys?
