Kudos, small business supporters (if you are at a farmers market, you are a supporter!) everywhere! Even big businesses like Kukui Grove Center, the Grove Farm Company, and A&B Hawai‘i are small business supporters by offering the umbrella where small businesses (Marcus Clavo of Marcus Cheesecake is one of the smallest small businesses, sampling the ube cheesecake to make sure the quality control is good enough for customers!) can grow (Kaua‘i Kim Chee next generation Kamalei Contrades was grilling — no big fire here! — Mayette Loseto eggplant for a future eggplant torta!).
Kudos, Robbie Melton of the Small Business Development Center, for doing the rounds at the Kaua‘i Made pop-up at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e to find her holiday giving, and Madi Jimenez of Mailelani’s is already looking past the Wailua Creators’ Fair and the Aloha Market to Saturday’s craft fair that joins the Grove Farm Market in Puhi.
More kudos to Waimea High School football Coach Kyle Linoz and his ‘ohana (yes, that includes Menehune Athletic Director Jon Kobayashi and his ‘ohana, and Principal Mahina Anguay and her ‘ohana) on creating Menehune pride to beyond the bridge. Tiffany Dick and the Aloha Dance Studio had smartphones going on at the cookie decorating tables — what? 33-6, Waimea, and it’s only the third quarter?
Mahalo, David Sosner, Melissa McFerrin-Warrack (that other elf sure looked familiar) and Kukui Grove Center for that break from holiday shopping to be able to enjoy the smartphone symphony. The big screens were tuned to other games.
OK, time to see what kind of surprises are at the Pau Hana Market that starts at 3 p.m. when the cowbell sounds at Kukui Grove Center.
