The cauliflower at Lin’s Farm (they also vend at the Grove Farm Market at the Puhi open field on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.!) were beautiful, Wednesday, when the Pop-Up Farmers Market at The Shops at Kuku‘iula opened with that long line of people waiting for the Hole in the Mountain Kaua‘i Sugarloaf Pineapple (yeah, they also vend at the Grove Farm Market … just look for the line before the horn sounds).
Isobel Storch (and what grade is Florence Toyofuku?) of Lanipo Farms had some of that chocolate persimmons, and said Bryna Storch just launched Country Comforts Island-wide Dog Grooming and Goods out of Wailua … visit countrycomfortsgrooming.wordpress.com for more information.
Kudos to Kelcie Morita of the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center on coordinating the planting of all those blue pinwheel gardens in observance of April being Child Abuse Prevention Month … Edie Ignacio Neumiller of the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i said Wednesday is Denim Day when the community is encouraged to wear denim as a social statement on April being Sexual Assault Prevention Month … and, everything is tied into alcohol awareness.
Need something to do after all that Earth Day activities, everywhere? Sunday is the monthly Wailua Bay Creators Fair at the Hilton Garden Inn … Nataliearth is definitely going to be there along with Pele Jele. And, have you started your sugar pea seeds yet for the special plant competition that will be part of the two-day agricultural celebration by the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau and its community partners in June (that’s after the Charity Walk that falls on May 6)?
