Happy Camper for Sunday, February 26, 2023

In the land where the red lilikoi is blooming and everyone went chasing green, mahalo, Mr. Ajimura (curly koa), for that unique mango that’s just right for eating (gotta wait until after Friday Art Night in Hanapepe to fully savor the half-ripe goodness).

Chef Ku‘u Breen of Hanapepe Cafe did not have to leave to chase the green, as her outside cafe tent was constantly busy, but Holly Ka‘iakapu was absent, and where was “Grown, Not Flown?”

Dominic Acain (The Hawaiian Storyteller) had a steady line of people outside the Talk Story Bookstore. Ed Justus said Toby Neal’s writer name is T.W. Neal of “Freckled”, and she is coming back for a book signing of her title that is one of the Hanapepe book seller’s “bestsellers,” talking about Neal’s experience of growing up on the North Shore during the Taylor Camp era.

Jacqueline Vienna of Jacqueline on Kaua‘i (she had some nice shirts made of Kokuho rice bags in the window) had no problems defending the “No Parking” sign to her single (her neighbor has 17!) parking space, and people escaped the strong wind by meeting the “Mistress of Madagascar” at the uptown Island Brewing Company in Port Allen.

Edwin Vea said there’s still time to not miss any of the excitement at The Beach House restaurant craft fair (when’s the next one in case we miss this one?) that starts at 9 a.m. Sunday at the restaurant’s lawn and back patio area across the Lawa‘i Beach Resort.
