Happy Camper for Wednesday, April 10, 2024

Now that E Kanikapila Kakou finished its 2024 run at the Outrigger Kaua‘i Beach Resort, the Garden Island Arts Council is looking to other ventures beyond Kat Ho’s Indigo project, which was part of the Boroboro Boutique at the craft fair component of Grove Farm Market.

Kat Ho is the project manager for the GIAC “Ka Pae ‘Aina O Hawai‘i Nei,” which is a Hawaiian Archipelago Mosaic Program that is envisioned as 4 feet tall and filling the entire retaining wall at the Kilauea Lighthouse.

The GIAC Boroboro Boutique is hosting a three-day Sew-a-thon on May 25 through 27 at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists gallery at Kukui Grove as a fundraiser for the massive project that Kat Ho said will involve everyone.

Shannon Hiramoto is excited that the Boroboro Boutique sewing is coming to the KSA gallery, where there will be workshops and the Boroboro Boutique pop-up … stay tuned for details as they materialize.

This weekend, Kukui Grove comes alive with the return of the Kaua‘i Parent and Child Fair on Saturday with about three dozen vendors and exhibitors, including the free car seat inspection station with certified inspectors to see if the child seats and boosters are installed properly.

On Sunday, Greg Askew will be in the midst of the first ‘Ukulele Festival that starts at 11 a.m.
