Happy Camper for Wednesday, January 26, 2022

Kudos to Mia Pauletto and the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation committee for adjusting the KIF paddling schedule to accommodate the Island School varsity boys, who had soccer after paddling, and kudos to the Voyagers involved who went out and captured first place in the varsity boys long-distance race (good sportsmanship, too, for cheering on the Waimea and Kapa‘a crews before paddling back to the transition area).

Island School swimmer Mahina Dameron (congrats on the girls medley relay team qualifying for states!) was trying to juggle the KIF swim meet and still make it to paddle with the varsity Voyagers.

Sean Magoun (great job running down all those soccer balls) of Island School said he wants to encourage multi-sport participation. Unfortunately, the high didn’t last, as the Kaua‘i High boys basketball popped the Voyagers’ balloon with a sweep of the Saturday-night contests.

Now, what happens to the rained out senior softball games?

A Contractors Association of Kaua‘i voice (it must’ve been great to be invited by Warren Haruki and the Puakea Golf Course leadership to have the installation of officers there) said Kristen Yanagawa is going to have the Puakea Chips on the menu at the Puakea Grill when it opens. What else will be offered there?
