You nevah hear about Frank, Cousin Bertram, and the Night Marchers? You miss out when Master Storyteller Kathy “Tita” Collins (she grew up with Jimmy Sone and said it’s rude to start talking without saying, ‘E!’) was doing her thing (she even got to eat at The Shops at Kukuiula — Janice Akiyama and Ron Wood had their Tortilla Republic doggie bag delivered to the story place that went indoors because of the rain).
But no worries because Dann Seki going talk about “Growing Up in Hawaii,” Wednesday (yow, that’s tonight!) at the Koloa Public Library from 6:30 p.m. (that’s plenty time to take in the special Plantation Cooking Chef’s Demo (5 p.m. start) at the Kauai Culinary Market at The Shops at Kukuiula.
Edward Ramos took time out to check out his father’s picture that was part of the special exhibit that continues until Friday afternoon (Sharlene Andrade Balmores, the fifth generation Rancher’s Daughter, can even visit after The Kauai Culinary Market).
More local flavor was at the Anahola Farmers Market, Sunday (they open Wednesdays, too!) when Uncle 2 Socks left his fruitstand with “grandkids” Allauna and Abbigail Berumen so he could do some Tahitian drumming (no need electricity for this!) with Tepairu Manea and Nathan Apuna so Heather Berg of Aoteoroa (da’s New Zealand, people) could take a break from making shave ice (need electricity for this) during the island-wide blackout…good thing it was during the daytime…nevah need lights.
