Back to school, end of summer, whatever. Bridget Thorpe of Namahana School, the first middle and high school on the North Shore, is already excited about the school opening its doors to the first students on Monday at the former Kula School campus.
And, since it is the first day of school, the Namahana School administrative team and visiting dignitaries will visit the school’s permanent site across the street from the Gather Federal Credit Union, Kilauea Branch.
Marlene Duarte of the Grove Farm Company said Saturday is going to be interesting at the Puhi park open field when the weekly Grove Farm Market welcomes nearly 40 vendors to the craft fair component. Ferdinand Dosono of the Kauai Kim Chee ohana should be back after being inundated at the Koloa Plantation Days celebration, and has Lickety Louie discovered the Kitty Furikake (even dogs love ‘em)?
When the gates close on the big weekly market, Hale Opio opens its End of Summer Bash, Backpack and Keiki Registration where more than 250 backpacks of school supplies have already been signed up for. The Bash starts at 3 p.m. with lots of rides, keiki activities and vendors.
U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz on Tuesday, announced a website link — www.schatz.senate.gov/taxlawhelp — that can help anyone being impacted by the cuts in health care coverage through Med-Quest, food assistance programs, education, and taxes. The guide is presented in a question-answer format and has a lot of information (and timelines on when the changes take effect) that have been obscured previously.
