Happy Camper for Wednesday, July 5, 2023

Dr. B, retired from Growing Our Own Teachers, and setting up charter schools, now does handmade note cards, and for the First Saturday presented by the Kapa‘a Business Association, even had July Fourth artifacts available for people to celebrate America’s birthday.

Abigail Mungin of Fresno, California, was with grandpa Richard Ragudo and doing a bang-up job making bracelets and necklaces, and selling them almost as fast as she could make them … and Neill Sams was busy showing a prospective tenant some space behind Orchid Alley (the miltassia shelop were going off, especially the “Okika”), and there were Canadians keeping Fely Sams occupied with discussions of different orchids.

Kudos to Shantelle Rego, Roxanne Thompson, Kennison Nagahisa, and all those hands from the Kawaihau Community Little League in hosting the Hawai‘i Little League District 1 Tournament over the weekend … was definitely a pleasure shooting sports again with Coach Todd Fuertes (carbon fiber monopods?) ahead of Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation football.

OK, we do it all again, starting Friday when Kawaihau LL hosts the Intermediate 50/70s tournament and the Seniors tournament.

And, this is the second Saturday so it’s the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market that gets kicked off with the no one gets left behind Bikes on Rice … hmm, with all of those electric bikes, when are we going to have a community event on electric bikes?
