Happy Camper for Wednesday, July 6, 2022

Police Chief Todd Raybuck had his “Sunday face” Monday (kudos, East Kaua‘i Lions Club on that demonstration of patriotism that was compliant with COVID-19 safety concerns!) or he might’ve gotten to meet Susan and Paul Llanos of California who were waiting for their 9:30 p.m. flight with the kupuna softball gang at the Kukui Grove food court…Stephen Fujii was the super man…flag waving, meeting with the kupuna, and still getting papaya at the Pau Hana Market…a seven-hour-plus wait, Susan and Paul?

Kudos and mahalo, Brenda Biehler Turville of Showtime Characters who managed to get Mickey (Mouse) to pop up at the Pau Hana Market to distribute American flags and pose for Fourth of July pictures with all those who needed a break from COVID-19 concerns…Kudos, too, Chef Judy Capertina of Haole Girl Sweets that could finally bring her croissant goodies to Kukui Grove after Kaua‘i Bakery sells out (usually well before their 2 p.m. closing time)…stay tuned because Chef Judy has some good farm to table news to share…

What? It’s already Wednesday? Renee Palmer, she’s the president of the Kaua‘i Society of Artists, said the Garden Isle Quilters with Lea Ingram, Toni Wass, Jilie Fregeau, Jeni Hardy, and Lesley Morris opens Friday with the meet the quilters reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The quilters will be at the KSA gallery for just one week, so don’t delay…can always do Friday Night Art, next week.

And, it’s the second Saturday so get the bikes lubed up for Tommy Noyes and Bikes on Rice (how come 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays appears to come a lot quicker than on Tuesdays?) at Kalena Park. That comes ahead of the monthly Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market (and the Rob’s Goodtime Grill overflow pop ups).
