Happy Camper for Wednesday, June 28, 2023

Charlee Balisa made it on time for some Watasada malasadas from Pua and Todd Wataoka of the Wailua Dough Company at the Wailua Bay Creators Fair on Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn Wailua Bay Kaua‘i. Herb Noe came late, and missed talking to Todd.

Jackson Warren is visiting from Iowa, and got the opportunity to watch the Sams brothers, Joey and Jaiden Sams, and Josey Mattos tell shoppers about the Forbidden Valley (it’s in Kalaheo) Pineapple that Jackson said won’t grow in Iowa.

Jo King of Smoky Valley Lotions was stopping the crowd with her Kahuna Montezuma Bowl Bombs that are produced (everything but the spray bottles) locally. Visit to learn more about the Bowl Bombs, the taro-based mosquito repellent and sun-baked soap. Herb said there’s a guy on O‘ahu who uses a Smoky Valley guava recipe for some broke-da-mouth smoked items. Herb said he smokes all kine stuff, like chicken, beef, fish and more.
