Happy Camper for Wednesday, June 29, 2022

The only thing missing from Saturday’s state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office pop-up at the Republic of the Marshall Islands RMI 43rd Constitution Day — kudos and mahalo, Cece Kilma for letting us in on the observance! — was Pua Kaohelauli‘i, who always finds these types of events where Blanca Gil (mahalo for all the help during Tropic Care Kaua‘i) said they’ll be helping with some “Play Streets” games at the Kekaha Family Fun Day Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center.

Raychel Corpuz has a summer activity that she interrupted Sunday at the Wailua Bay Creators’ Fair at the Hilton Garden Inn Kaua‘i Wailua Bay (kudos, Attalia and Eric Alverdes on a great gathering!) when she was making a paper money bag because she didn’t have a wallet.

Raychel’s been making “loom bracelets” that go well with Mimi Espaniola’s Mimi’s Little Creations for the summer (who couldn’t say “Mandy?”). Mimi normally vends at the Saturday Hanalei Market with Ashley Guerrero of Aloha Corner Hanalei, who brought the rainbow across the Hanalei bridge at the fair.

Now, when is the Anahola Market on the second Saturday of the month? The same as the Bikes on Rice (are we doing a July 4 ride?) or the Downtown Lihu‘e Night Market when the pop-ups visit Rob’s Good Times Grill in the Rice Shopping Center on Rice Street.

So, how early (the fair opens at 8:30 a.m. on the fourth Sunday of the month) do you need to go to get some malasada from Watasadas Malasadas (also known as The Wailua Dough Co.), where Pua and Todd Wataoka said they have a “not-so-common Japanese name” like Mariah Hanki of HoniHoni Swimwear?
