Cece Kilma of the Marshallese Association of Kaua‘i said they will be hosting another community event this Saturday, Oct. 2, at Isenberg Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cece and his compadres, many coming over special from O‘ahu during the last back-to-school event, welcome everyone to some Marshallese hospitality.
Sheila Bradbury told a customer of the Usborne Books &More to keep on reading, even if the child is temporarily distracted. Sheila will be back at Kukui Grove Center this weekend, starting Friday from 3 to 7 p.m… — need to do things at the center before it closes at 7 p.m. — and full days on Saturday and Sunday. This week’s outing supports Koloa School.
Out at the Pau Hana Market, Sonya Emura (yep, she had Makoa and Makana helping, too) of Kaua‘i Churros turned out a guava special. Last week, Bill Spitz found that Kaua‘i Churros work well with the Miki Macs honey. Sonya said they use Aunty Lilikoi for the lilikoi-flavored ones. How many flavors can you have? Doesn’t matter, I guess, they just taste the best hot out of the cooker.
Elvrine Chow stopped in to visit with Bev Pang at the market after returning from a camping and backpacking adventure in Alaska, where Elvrine said she never thought she could camp. Now, it’s back to the Aloha Market on Thursdays at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens South Shore Visitor Center in Kukui‘ula.
