Hawai‘i Heart Walk returns to Kaua‘i

LIHU‘E — The American Heart Association, the world’s leading voluntary organization dedicated to building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, announced the return of its Hawai‘i Heart Walk Saturday, Aug. 6, at Puakea Golf Course in Lihu‘e.

“We’re excited to offer Kaua‘i residents the opportunity to participate in the American Heart Association’s premier community event, the Heart Walk,” said Jason Fujita, chair of the Association’s Hawai‘i Division board of directors.

Money raised online through the event is used to fund cardiovascular research and education, advocate for health and save lives in Hawai‘i and on Kaua‘i.

The event will offer a one-mile walk, with the option to add additional laps for those seeking more exercise.

Health-awareness activities will be offered, including opportunities to speak with Wilcox Medical Center Cardiologist Dr. John T. Funai and learn heart health information and tips.

Stretching and dynamic movement exercise tips will also be demonstrated by physical therapists from the medical center.

The 2022 Hawai‘i Heart Walk’s lead sponsors are Kalaeloa Partners, L.P. and Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc. Additional corporate support is provided by Kaiser Permanente, First Insurance Company of Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Pacific Health, Island Insurance Companies, and media sponsorship from Hawai‘i News Now.
