Healing Horses Kauai teaches horsemanship, offers therapy

KAPAA — Kids interested in horseback riding can spend their summer break in the saddle at Healing Horses Kauai, learning about the equestrian world from certified instructors.

Kids spend a day or join the week-long equestrian camp to learn about riding and horse behavior, grooming and tackle, and other elements of horsemanship.

Three camps will run this summer — June 10-24, June 24 -28 and July 8 -12. The camps run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Healing Horses Kauai is a nonprofit operation that not only teaches horsemanship to adults and children, but also provides equestrian therapy for different needs, from people with developmental disorders to those who are rehabilitating from drug and alcohol use.

Volunteers are also welcome at Healing Horses Kauai.

Those attending the Healing Horses Kauai summer camps should bring a bag lunch, lots of water and wear long pants. Cost is $50 for a single day with discounts for multiple days, or for multiple children.
