LIHU‘E — After giving up three unearned runs in the opening inning, the Hanamaulu Hillsiders, earning a bye in this week’s contests, rebounded to pick up its second win of the season, 16-11 over Da Killas who made its season debut at the Peter Rayno Park in Hanamaulu.
Da Killas jumped on the Hillsiders’ starting pitcher to claim a 3-2 advantage that was answered in the second inning when Hanamaulu’s lead-off hitter, Wayne Allianic connected with a grand slam in-the-park homerun to push the Hillsiders to a 6-3 advantage that stood for the contest.
During the day’s opener that featured former Kaua‘i County Council member Ross Kagawa taking the field for the Aloha Kia Lihu‘e A’s, the A’s built a sizeable lead that was challenged by Solid Steel before the A’s held on for a one-run margin.
This weekend’s schedule has been re-adjusted to accommodate the change in fields.
