Hilo man arrested in drug bust

Police have charged a 52-year-old Hilo man with three drug-related offenses stemming from a search warrant executed on Tuesday on a Nohea Street home.

Jeffrey Leopoldino was charged with second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, officers recovered 16.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 24.6 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, plus evidence indicating the distribution and sale of narcotics.

Police also seized $3,850 for forfeiture.

The street value of the seized narcotics is just under $3,000, police said. Leopoldino’s bail was set at $26,000 and he was released after posting bond.
