HVNP announces more closures due to road work

More temporary closures are scheduled for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park as road work continues over the next few weeks.

On Monday, the Thurston Lava Tube and its attendant trail will be closed to all visitors, while the Maunaulu parking lot will be closed to everyone Monday and Tuesday for pavement preservation work.

Work will also be conducted at Kilauea Overlook Parking Lot on Monday and Tuesday, although it will remain open during that time. Kilauea Overlook itself and the parking lot will be closed during Wednesday morning, while Crater Rim Trail to Kilauea Military Camp will close after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Pauahi Crater parking lot will be closed to everyone Wednesday and Thursday.

Puhimau Crater parking lot will close to all visitors on Wednesday and on June 1, but will be open to all on the intervening days.

Sulphur Banks Trail to Kilauea Military Camp will be closed to everyone Thursday.

Next month, Devastation Trail Parking Lot will be closed to everyone June 2 and 3, Tree Molds and its associated parking lot will be closed to everyone June 4, Namakanipaio Campground will be closed to everyone June 7 and 8, and Kilauea Iki Overlook parking lot will be closed to everyone June 4 and June 7, but will be open on the intervening days.
