Kalaheo woman faces multiple charges

LIHU‘E — A 20-year-old Kalaheo woman was arrested Monday night for allegedly operating a motor vehicle at excessive speed, possessing a dangerous drug and drug paraphernalia, and motor vehicle theft.

Zayna Matsusaka-Perreira was arrested at approximately 9 p.m. after being pulled over for allegedly traveling at speeds in excess of 80 mph.

This incident marks Matsusaka-Perreira’s second arrest in two months. She posted $1,000 bail on a similar charge in late September.

According to court documents, Matsusaka-Perreira was charged with five separate counts: theft of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, driving 80 MPH in a 30 MPH zone, possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and less than three grams of marijuana.

In early August of this year, according to court documents, Matsusaka-Perreira failed to appear at her hearing and was charged with two counts of criminal contempt of court.
