Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i win latest KIF tennis events

LIHU‘E — Kapa‘a swept its series by winning both the girls and boys tennis series over Waimea during a Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation (KIF) matchup at Waimea High School on Saturday. In other action, Kaua‘i High School won the boys and girls matches over Island School at Po‘ipu Kai tennis courts on Saturday.

“Both Kaua‘i and Island School were missing some starters due to a media trip to Long Beach, California, and Mock Court on O‘ahu,” said Kauai High School coach Jennifer Hreljac. “The matches were very competitive and fun to watch.”

The next KIF tennis matches are scheduled for March 30 when Kaua‘i High School hosts Waimea at its new tennis courts and Kapa‘a High School hosts Island School teams. The first serve is set to go at 9 a.m.


Waimea Kay Marie Alvarez lost to Kapa‘a Chloe Hannsz 6-2, 6-0 in Girls First Singles.

Waimea Andrelyn Acoba lost to Kapa‘a Rain Hannsz 6-1, 6-2 in Girls Second Singles.

Waimea Kianna Michaud and Branlee Vidinha lost to Kapa‘a Wainohia Kitamura and Ocean Amador 6-1, 6-1 in girls first doubles.

Waimea Aubrie Ortal and Raia Agor lost to Kapa‘a Sierra Summer and Chelcie Domingo 6-0, 6-2 in girls second doubles.

Waimea lost by default to Kapa‘a in girls third doubles.

Waimea Edward Pinkston lost to Kapa‘a Jayson Muramaru 6-1, 5-7, 13-11 in boys first singles.

Waimea Teo Vukic lost to Kapa‘a Ryan Murata 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 in boys second singles.

Waimea Swede Sandblom and Edison Medina lost to Kapa‘a Louie Reale and Brody Kapali 1-6, 6-3, 10-5 in boys first doubles.

Waimea Kalen Shimatsu and Anthony Udarbe lost to Kapa‘a Grant Matsuda and Keola Maroney 6-2, 6-0 in boys second doubles.

Waimea Gian Awaran and Emerson Ochua lost to Kapa‘a Matt Asuncion and Rocky Gillis 6-2. 6-0.

Kaua‘i Dillion Fulks defeated Island School Michael Fitzgerald 6-1, 7-6-tiebreaker 7-2 in boys first singles.

Island Mark Fitzgerald defeated Kaua‘i Ryan So 6-1, 6-1 in boys second singles.

Island’s Pablo Vadeo-Espejo and Nachi Eluardia defeated Kaua‘i Isaac Mirey and Rasi Manadhar 6-1, 6-1 in boys first doubles.

Kaua‘i’s Robert Bishop and Kekai Calderon defeated Island School by default.

Kaua‘i’s Savanah Hubbard defeated Island School Katie Brown 6-0, 6-4).

Island School’s Madi Welsh defeated Kaua‘i Maddison Hubbard (7-6 tiebreaker 7-3),(6-4 tiebreaker 10-6) in girls second singles.

Kaua‘i’s Taylee Yoshimoto and Samantha Tominaga defeat Island School Lillah Hamid and Maya Ventura 6-1, 6-3 in girls first doubles.

Kaua‘i’s Jeanine Longboy and Laney Carvalho defeated Island School’s Luisa Junqueria and Nola Brown 6-0, 6-0 in girls second doubles.

Kaua‘i’s Sharba Holi and Ashley Chari defeated Island School’s Emily Racpan and Maylen Ventura 6-1, 6-1 in girls third doubles.
