LIHUE — Kapaa High School soccer teams took all four of its matches to improve on its season, Saturday during the Kauai Interscholastic Federation soccer matches contested at the Vidinha Stadium.
The Warriors opened its winning ways when the Kapaa Junior Varsity girls improved on its 2-0 halftime lead to take a 4-0 win over Kauai High School JV girls.
Kapaa’s JV boys followed suit with its 1-0 edge over the Waimea High School JV boys.
The win streak continued when, according to an unofficial text from a spectator, the Kapaa girls notched a 2-0 win over the Menehune women on a pair of late-game scores.
Kapaa JV boys’ Koda Williams and Jordan Encinas found the net early to give the Warrior JV boys its 2-0 shutout over the Waimea JV boys.
No scores were available from the Kauai High School at Island School matches.
Tiare Regina Morita opened the JV Warrior women scorebooks midway through the first half, finding the back of the net in the 15th minute. Parker Reed gave the girls a 2-0 halftime lead after scoring in the 30th minute.
The Kapaa JV girls continued to build on its lead, Kai-Lee Kupihea getting her goal in the 50th minute, and Trachelle Iwamoto icing the win on a goal in the 60th minute.
Koda Williams and Jordan Encinas received credit for the Kapaa JV boys’ 2-0 win over the Menehune JV boys.
Makaio Gonsalves did the scoring honors for the Warrior varsity boys in the first half of the physically defensive match up that was demonstrated by Waimea getting a pair of yellow cards for “unsporting behavior” on the field.
Kapaa next faces Kauai High School, Wednesday at Vidinha Stadium when the varsity girls kick off at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity boys contest starting at 7 p.m.
Waimea will host Island School at the Hanapepe Stadium with the varsity girls starting at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity boys at 7 p.m.
