LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Beer Company on Thursday presented a check for nearly $545 to representatives of the Kaua‘i Humane Society, including Caitlin Fowlkes, Tanya Ramseth, who came to the Rice Street restaurant with adoptable Lucie.
“This represents the recent Pint Night adoption event that was hosted on June 10,” said Larry Feinstein of the Kaua‘i Beer Company. “And it also includes the June proceeds from a new practice that was started by the company.”
During Pint Night, Kaua‘i Beer Company sets aside a dollar from each pint sold on the day where Kaua‘i Humane Society representatives brought along animals suitable for adoption for potential adoption on the spot. They additionally brought down society supporter wear and other accessories as a fundraiser for the society that is currently struggling with overcapacity.
Feinstein said in addition to hosting the adoption event, Kaua‘i Beer Company designates an area on all the checks it writes for a donation amount to benefit the Kaua‘i Humane Society.
“This amounted to about $400 just for the month of June,” Feinstein said. “And this continues for each month.”
Additionally, Kaua‘i Beer Company enhanced one of its niches to include a Kaua‘i Humane Society informational board that contains information of the various services available at KHS, as well as the latest adoptable animals.
The Kaua‘i Humane Society, in appreciation for the support received by the Kaua‘i Beer Company, brought along an identifying sign to enhance the new informational board.
“We are so grateful and appreciate all the support we’ve gotten from the Kaua‘i Beer Company,” said Fowlkes before rushing off to talk about the latest adoptables on the radio. “The Kaua‘i Humane Society is still over capacity, and I haven’t been able to collect the numbers of animals that were turned in from the July Fourth celebrations. We appreciate the cooperation and support of everyone as we try to get a handle on our capacity.”
