Kaua‘i boys, Kapa‘a girls take Week 5 KIF Bowl

LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i High School boys, and the Kapa‘a High School girls took the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation, Week 5 matches that were rolled at Kaua‘i Bowl on Sept. 29.

The Red Raider boys who claimed the KIF division title last month when Kaikoa Carvalho-Kiilau rolled a 298 game, continued to win the boys’ competition, finishing with a 2766 pinfall over second place Waimea who rolled a 1932 pinfall, and the Kapa‘a boys who finished the night with a 1605 pinfall.

On the girls’ lanes, Kapa‘a High School wahine, repeating as the KIF champions for the division, rolled a day’s high 2270 pinfall to keep its winning streak going. Waimea girls rolled a 1841 pinfall for second place with the Kaua‘i girls finishing with a 1689 pinfall.

With the team titles already settled, the KIF bowlers are looking to fill the remaining two spots for the boys and for the girls to represent the KIF at the state bowling championships that will take place at Leeward Bowl on O‘ahu.

The final Senior Night bowling match will roll on Oct. 13 following a week’s break for the fall break. The first balls roll starting at 4 p.m. at Kaua‘i Bowl.
