Kaua‘i COVID-19 update: New cases decline to 36 this week

HONOLULU — Data released on Wednesday by the state Department of Health showed a substantial decline in COVID-19 cases with 36 new COVID-19 cases on Kaua‘i from Nov. 22 to Nov. 28, compared with 56 cases the previous week.

Statewide, there were 1,012 new cases, down from 1,169 the previous week.

Kaua‘i’s seven-day COVID-19 case average dropped from eight cases a day to five.

The test positivity rate on Kaua‘i was 6.9 percent, compared with 6.3 percent statewide.

No COVID-19 deaths have been reported on island since September.

Globally, protests have broken out in China over the nation’s harsh “zero-COVID” policy. Chinese government officials said in a statement this week that they plan to crack down on protests.
