Kaua‘i road closures: March 20-26

HANALEI — The state Department of Transportation announced a right lane closure for grass cutting and drain clearing on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between mile markers 5 and 10, in the vicinity of Lumaha‘i Beach and Ha‘ena State Park, Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.;

• A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible for guardrail repairs in the northbound direction between mile markers 1.1 to 2.3, in the vicinity of Ohiki Road, Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Kilauea

• A right lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible for grass cutting and drain cleaning in either direction, between mile markers 22 and 25, in the vicinity of Kaluamakua Place and Kalihiwai Road, Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Anahola

• Portions of Anahola Road, near Anahola bridge, will be closed from Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, for bridge repair exploration work for future improvements to the bridge. Due to the bridge’s support system, this portion of Anahola Road has been closed to vehicular traffic since January 2021;

• Nightly single lane closures of Kuhio Highway are possible in either direction for paving between mile markers 9.8 and 15, in the vicinity of Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road, Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Kapa‘a

• A portion of Kawaihau Road will be closed Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, for clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation, sidewalk construction and roadway construction.

Wailua

w A right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements;

• A single right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction for guardrail installation and surveying, between mile marker 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kapa‘a bypass and Kuamo‘o Road, Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.;

• Nightly two-lane closures of Kuhio Highway are possible in either direction for Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements, between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kapa‘a bypass and Kuamo‘o Road, Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.;

• A single right lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road is possible in the westbound direction for paving between mile markers 0 and 0.6, in the vicinity of Wailua Road, Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Koloa

• Portions of Maluhia Road, from Kaumuali‘i Highway to Koloa Road, will be closed from Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass-cutting and shoulder maintenance work.

Kalaheo

• A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in the eastbound direction for Hawaiian Telcom utility pole relocation, as a part of the Kaumuali‘i Highway Intersection Improvements project, between mile markers 10.3 and 11.5, between Koloa Road and Hokua Road, Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

‘Ele‘ele

• A single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in the westbound direction, for grass cutting and guardrail clearing, between mile markers 13 and 15, in the vicinity of Laulea Street, Monday through Friday, March 20 to 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
