Kaua‘i road closures: March 26 to 31

WAINIHA — The state Department of Transportation announced a right lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction, for grass cutting and trimming of low hanging trees, between mile markers 5 and 7, in the vicinity of Lumaha‘i Beach and Wainiha Powerhouse Road, Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Hanalei

• A roving, single-lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in the westbound direction for shallow depth road borings, between mile markers 0 and 4.47, from the vicinity of Ka Haku Road to Waikoko Bay, from Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.;

• A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in the southbound direction, for guardrail repairs, between mile markers 1.3 and 2.3, in the vicinity of Ohiki Road, Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Kilauea

• A right lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction, for grass cutting, between mile markers 23 and 26, between the vicinity of Ku‘awa Road and the Princeville Airport, Tuesday through Thursday, March 28 to March 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Anahola

• Nightly single-lane closures of Kuhio Highway are possible in either direction, for paving, between mile markers 9.8 and 15, from the vicinity of Mailihuna Road to Aliomanu Road, Monday through Friday, March 27 to 31, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.;

• A right lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in the southbound direction for guardrail repairs between mile markers 13 and 16, in the vicinity of Kalalea Road, from Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Wailua

• A right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway are possible in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements;

• A single right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction for guardrail and drainage installations and striping, between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kapa‘a bypass and Kuamo‘o Road, from Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.;

• Nightly two-lane closures of Kuhio Highway are possible in either direction between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kapa‘a bypass and Kuamo‘o Road, from Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements;

• A single right lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road is possible in the westbound direction, for paving, between mile markers 0 to 0.6, in the vicinity of Wailua Road, from Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Waipouli

• A right lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in the northbound direction, for trimming of ironwood trees, between mile markers 7.9 and 8, in the vicinity of Kaloloku Road and Akia Road, from Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Lawa‘i

• Work will continue on a portion of Wawae Road in Lawa‘i on Monday, March 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., for an engineering study for future improvements of the road. Approximately 900 feet of Wawae Road will be closed in both directions, between 3278 Wawae Road and 3341B Wawae Road.

Kalaheo

• A single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in the westbound direction for tree trimming between mile markers 11 and 12, in the vicinity of Halewili Road to Lauoho Road, from Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.;

• Waha Road, from Papalina Road to Lauoho Road, will be closed from Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting, pothole and eroded shoulder repair and removal of vegetation.

Ele‘ele

• A right shoulder closure on Halewili Road is possible in the westbound direction for grass trimming and guardrail clearing, between mile markers 1 and 3.5, in the vicinity of Quarry Drive, from Tuesday through Friday, March 28 to 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
