Kaua‘i road closures: May 8 through May 12

PRINCEVILLE — The state Department of Transportation announced a single right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction, for grass cutting and tree trimming, between mile markers 0.5 and 1.2, in the vicinity of Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Kilauea

• A single right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in the northbound direction, for tree trimming and bridge inspection, between mile markers 24.5 and 25, in the vicinity of Kahiliholo Road, From Monday to Wednesday, May 8 to 10, from 8:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m.

Anahola

• A single right lane closure is possible on Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction for guardrail repairs, between mile markers 14 and 16, beginning in the vicinity of Pu U Hale Loop, Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Waipouli

• A single left lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in the northbound direction, for restriping, in the vicinity of the Kapa‘a bypass and Po‘uli Road, Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Kapa‘a

• A single right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in the westbound direction for guardrail repair in the vicinity of the Kapa‘a bypass and Kukui Street, Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.;

• Portions of Kawaihau Road from Kahuna Road to Hau‘a‘ala Road will be closed from Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for road-resurfacing work;

• Portions of Mailihuna Road will be closed from Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for clearing and grubbing, roadway excavation and roadway construction. The project aims to construct a peanut-shaped roundabout.

Wailua

• A right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway are possible in the southbound direction, between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass, for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements;

• A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction, for guardrail and drainage installation and striping, between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and the Kapa‘a bypass, Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.;

• Nightly two-lane closures of Kuhio Highway are possible in either direction, between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kuamo‘o Road and the Kapa‘a bypass, Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for lane smoothness grinding, striping layout and drainage work, as a part of the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements.

Lihu‘e

• A single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in the westbound direction, for tree trimming, between mile markers 3 and 4, in the vicinity of Pu‘uana Road and Kipu Road, from Tuesday through Friday, May 9 to May 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.;

• A single right lane closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in the northbound direction, for utility work, in the vicinity of Poinciana Street and Ehiku Street, Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.;

• A shoulder closure on Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction, for surveying work, between mile markers 3 and 7, in the vicinity of Kaua‘i Beach Drive and Fernandez Road, on Monday, May 12, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kalaheo

• A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Anuhea Place and Koloa Road, Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for waterline relocation, in support of the Kuli Road and La‘uoho Road intersection improvement project.

Pakala

• A single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway is possible in the eastbound direction, for grass cutting and guardrail clearing, between mile markers 18 and 22, Monday through Friday, May 8 to 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
